About this product
A targeted formula pairing berberine with chromium. The manufacturer designed it to support healthy metabolism, using a phytosome form to improve how well berberine dissolves and is absorbed.
- Branded berberine. Berbevis Berberine Phytosome gives 550 mg per capsule from a 50:1 Berberis aristata (Indian barberry) root extract, gently water-extracted and standardised to 28–34% berberine.
- Designed for absorption. The extract is bound to sunflower lecithin and pea protein. The manufacturer cites a human pharmacokinetic study reporting 10-fold higher bioavailability than standard berberine.
- Chromium included. Each capsule adds 200 µg chromium as picolinate (500% NRV). Chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels.
- Added grape seed extract. The manufacturer includes Enovita grape seed extract to make the formula gentler on the stomach than standard berberine.
- Good to know. Take 1 capsule, ideally before a meal, and no more than 2 a day. The contents taste slightly bitter and can be mixed into soft food such as yoghurt. Speak to your doctor first if you take any medication, especially diabetes medication. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
