Where 2.5 mg fits in treatment
2.5 mg is the starting dose. Treatment begins with 2.5 mg once a week for 4 weeks, then the dose is increased to 5 mg. 2.5 mg is not a maintenance dose. Only buy the strength your prescriber has written.
Using the 2.5 mg KwikPen
Inject once a week on the same day, under the skin of the stomach area or thigh (or the back of the upper arm if someone else injects), changing the site each week. If you miss a dose, take it within 4 days; if more than 4 days have passed, skip it and continue on your usual day. Keep the pen in the fridge (2 °C to 8 °C), do not freeze it, and after first use it can be kept below 30 °C for up to 30 days.
Safety
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and stomach pain; drink plenty of fluids. Get urgent help for severe, persistent stomach pain or signs of a severe allergic reaction. Not for use in pregnancy. See the full Mounjaro guide for more.
